There are two ways to find instructional support for Explora for Grades PreK-5.
Within the Research Tools, educators will find the Curriculum Standards tool.
Curriculum Standards
This instructional tool, pictured below, contains Ohio's Learning Standards for grades PreK-12. Use the Curriculum Standards tool to find the search string to use in Explora to find content that supports that standard. Use the drop-down menus to find the Ohio standards you need to plan for your lesson. Open the standard statements by clicking on the plus sign (+) to reveal the search string that will yield results aligned to that standard.
For example, using the search string "environment" and "impact" and "human" yielded an initial search of more than 70 results. Educators can select items from this results list, pictured below, to supplement instruction and promote mastery of Earth Science standards for Grade 3.
EBSCO Connect
Educators can reach the EBSCO Connect support site from the information page of Explora for Grades PreK-5.
The top of the EBSCO Connect screen, pictured below, has a menu with several options.
From the list on the Product Help screen, pictured below, find Explora. Click it to find resources to support using the databases in the classroom. You will find scavenger hunts and lesson plans for Explora.
You can use the search feature on EBSCO Connect to find lesson plans. Type the keywords lesson plans in the Search box. Open the Filter menu and select Explora.
Look for the Explora lessons for elementary students in the list: Butterflies and Camouflage and Identifying Theme in the Elementary Science Classroom. The lesson Growing Up with Crayons is aligned with sixth grade standards but could be modified for fifth grade.
