INFOhio Spence White Service Award, 2016
Jean Banks (INFOhio)
This year's Spence White Service Award recipient is Jean Banks. "Jean was instrumental in the development and implementation of ISearch," said INFOhio Director, Theresa M. Fredericka. "Jean diligently upgraded all 2,149 INFOhio-automated school library catalogs, rolling out more than 2,500 ISearch search sites, so that students and teachers have quick and easy access to INFOhio’s digital content and the materials in those school libraries. Through multiple enhancements to ISearch, Jean also ensured that students and teachers in schools not automated with INFOhio can search across the many databases Ohio provides through INFOhio. Jean's work touches every student in Ohio."
Jean was nominated by Ellen Williams, INFOhio Advisory Board member and District Librarian at Defiance City Schools, with support letters from Lila Whyman, Library Media Specialist at Apollo Career Center, and Joe Falk, Media Specialist at Parkway High School. Jean was recognized during the Ohio Educational Technology Conference (OETC), on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
