Finding Instructional Materials

With an overwhelming amount of educational content online, finding the best resources can be time consuming. Sometimes, it can make you feel lost. According to an analysis from EdReports, teachers spend 7-12 hours per week searching for and creating instructional materials, many of which are unvetted.

Clearly this is a problem for educators—especially considering the positive impact of vetted, high-quality instructional materials. These resources can significantly improve instruction, heighten student learning outcomes, deepen student engagement, and reduce achievement gaps, according to the same EdReports analysis.

In the following lessons, you'll discover multiple ways to find quality instructional materials through Open Space. Here is a preview of our top recommended strategies:

  1. Keyword search. Type a couple keywords and press enter (or click the Search button) to find relevant records.
  2. Collections. To jump start a search, click the Discover menu item to find our curated collections. For example, find career exploration resources, standards-aligned social studies, and full textbooks all in one collection.
  3. Hubs. The Ohio Reviewed Instructional Materials hub helps users find content that has been vetted by educators and earned one or more quality endorsements.
