Applying What You Have Learned

Learning Objectives
  • Find Literature Online on the INFOhio website: www.infohio.org.
  • Use the navigational tools to search and browse content to find the best titles for students and instruction.
  • Find the instructional supports available in the resource.

Exploring a Topic

Now that you have learned how to access Literature Online, search for titles, browse for subjects, and use the tools and resources, practice using your new navigation skills by completing the following exercise.

  1. Think about an upcoming lesson or unit you plan to teach that requires use of classical literature.
  2. Go to www.infohio.org and find Literature Online using what you have learned.
  3. If there is an eBook you would like to use, search by title to see if it is included in the Literature Online database. You can search using just one keyword from the title.
  4. If you don't have a title chosen already, or Literature Online doesn't include the eBook you would like to use, browse and find one that will fit your curricular needs.
  5. Browse by category, curation, or module.
  6. Create an activity that includes students using the reflective learning processes of bookmarking pages and taking notes to jot down their thinking as they are reading the text.

Below is an example of a note that a student created about a line from a poem by Edgar Allen Poe titled, "Eulalie -- A Song."
